About John and Sara Burns:
We both believe in the values and products that small specialized nurseries
stand behind. We hold the same quality standards that Bruce and Karen have
worked so hard to establish. Through our education and work experience, we have
the knowledge and skills to continue growing Wind Poppy's unique product lines.
We would like to assure their customers that Wind Poppy will continue to bring
superior, quality plant material that customers have grown to love. We are
looking forward to meeting all of you.
John grew up in Indianapolis as the son of a florist.
He was always surrounded by flowers as a child.
John helped his parents bring joy to people's lives with
the gift of flowers.
Sara grew up in a small town outside of Chicago.
As a child, she helped in the family Italian restaurant.
She brought joy to peoples’ lives with good food.
John and Sara both had desires to move west. They both found themselves in Fort Collins, CO and met while attending Colorado State University.
They both studied Horticulture. John concentrated in Floriculture and Sara concentrated in Nursery and Landscape Management.
They both received their Bachelor of Science degrees.
After graduation John worked in the industry as a Greenhouse Grower. Sara worked for the Colorado Department of Agriculture.
In the summer of 2002, John proposed to Sara on top of a mountain in Glacier National Park.
In the fall of 2003 they were married.
It was then that they started planning their dreams.
They wanted
to utilize their degrees by running a small specialized nursery and raising a
family.
John found a job opportunity in Bellingham, WA. So they decided to relocate and buy a house.
For the past five years John has worked for Van Wingerden Greenhouses Inc. and Sara was employed at Cascade Cuts.
They worked hard and
fixed up their house and decided to start a family. When their daughter Bella
arrived Sara decided to stay at home and raise her.
Now they have another baby girl Sophie who was born this year.
Still keeping true to their dreams and lifestyle, they were determined that one day it would happen.
Well that "one day" did happen. They found Wind Poppy or
maybe Wind Poppy found them?
